Greater Taunton Open 3 v 3 Tournament

3 v 3 NHL OT Style Tournament

Tournament Rules
• Teams must register using application form and submitting $350 Tournament Fee per Team. A and B Divisions available with Interest.

• Roster Minimum: 3 Skaters and a goalie. 3-12 Skaters and goalie (7 skaters Suggested)
- Roster must be submitted prior to tournament start.
- All players must sign waiver form before playing.

• Tournament is One Day; 4 Game minimum; 6-7 maximum.
Games are 20-Min run-time period

• 3 v 3 NHL OT Style Format; Using USA Hockey Rules;
2 Minute Warm up

• Teams must be prepared to play 10 minutes prior to scheduled time.

• Stop Time Last 2 minutes if 2 goals or less.

• Tie Games will go to a 3-man Shootout; If still tied sudden death rules until winner.

• Points for Standings will go as followed: 3 pts Win; 2pts Shootout Win; 1pt Shootout Loss, 0 pts Loss.

• Penalties:
All penalties will result in penalty shot for opposing team.
EXCEPT: Matching penalties will be served 2 minutes in Box.
EXCEPT: Purposeful Infringement on a breakaway play will be awarded an automatic goal for infringed team.
5 Penalties amassed accrued by a team in a game will result in automatic forfeiture.

• Teams must be able to field 3 players on ice at all times, teams must start game with a goalie. Emergency goalies may be used at tournament director’s discretion. Failure to have roster minimums on ice will result in team forfeiture.

• Standings/Playoff Tiebreakers:

Least Penalties Committed
Coin Flip
If three or more teams are tied, tiebreak rules will be used to drop one team, and the restart to break the tie of remaining two teams.

• Teams must make an attempt to have matching jerseys!

• Winners will receive trophy and t-shirts.

• Tournament Director/Directors will have final say on decisions. Decisions will be final.

• Reminder: This is designed as a friendly fundraising tournament. Exemplary sportsmanship is expected at all times.

Baseball

Taunton, 1 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final – For the second straight game, Taunton senior Jack Moynihan tossed a gem and this time the Tigers put a run on the board to get the win. Moynihan scattered six hits in a complete game shutout, striking out seven. Taunton scored the lone run of the game in the top of the sixth inning as Lucas Martins singled and came around to score on a base hit from Josh Lajoie. Attleboro’s Ryan Morry was also strong, allowing five hits and striking out three in a complete game effort for the Bombardiers.

Girls Lacrosse

Taunton, 10 @ Canton, 9 – Final – Canton held Taunton to just one goal in the second half but couldn’t complete the comeback. Caroline Tourgee paced Canton with four goals and an assist, Kaitlyn Goyetch netted two goals, and Leah McClellan, Allie McCabe, and Ally Reddish each scored once.

Boys Tennis

Attleboro, 0 @ Taunton, 5 – Final – Taunton’s Barrett Hodgson and Tyler Goddard battled back from a one-set deficit to win the next two and complete the sweep against Attleboro. Hodgson and Goddard earned a 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 win at second doubles while the team of Trevor Hart and Alex Pugh picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at first doubles. Brett Beaulieu won 6-3, 6-4 at first singles, Charlie Fiske notched a 6-3, 6-2 win at second singles, and Dylan Kullas won 6-2, 7-6 at third singles.

Girls Tennis

Taunton, 4 @ Attleboro, 1 – Final – The Tigers swept all three singles matches and grabbed one more win in doubles play for a victory on the road. Jillian Pagliuca won 6-0, 6-2 at first singles, McKenzie Lucie picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win at second singles and Jocelyn Pagliuca prevailed 6-1, 6-0 at third singles. The team of Sam Martin and Brianna Fevrier recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win at first doubles. Attleboro’s Rena Danho and Jordan Bernardo emerged with a 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 7-5 (7-3) win at second doubles.

Baseball

Milford, 7 @ Taunton, 13 – Final – Taunton’s offense had its best performance of the season, scoring a season-high 13 runs in a win over Milford. Sophomore Danny MacDougall paced the Tigers with two hits, three RBI and three runs scored. Joseph Crawford added three hits and Lucas Martins had three hits, three RBI and two runs scored.

Softball

Taunton, 19 @ Milford, 0 – Final (6 inn.) – Taunton senior Alexa White scattered four hits and struck out 14, tossing a complete game shutout to lift Taunton to a win. Abbie McDonough (two RBI), McKenzie McAloon (RBI), Ava Venturelli (RBI), Skylar Rheaume (triple, two RBI), and Rylie Murphy each had two hits for the Tigers.

Girls Tennis

Milford, 0 @ Taunton, 5 – Final – The Tigers defended home court, winning all five matches in straight sets to sweep the visiting Scarlet Hawks. Jillian Pagliuca won 6-1, 6-0 at first singles, McKenzie Lucie picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at second singles, and Jocelyn Pagliuca won 6-2, 6-1 at third singles. The team of Sam Martin and Brianna Fevrier earned a 6-4, 6-1 decision at first doubles and Ogechi Ariguzo teamed up with Kayla Parrett to win 6-2, 6-1 at second doubles.

Softball

Taunton, 1 @ Franklin, 2 – Final – Franklin junior Sarah Jackson hit her second home run in as many games, this one a solo shot that broke a 1-1 tie to give the Panthers an upset win over Taunton, snapped the Tigers’ 28-game win streak dating back to last April. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth when Hanna Aldrich drove in Jaime Brown (two hits, two walks). Ally Shea led off the bottom of the fourth with a single and moved to second on an infield error. Courtesy runner Molly Collins scored on a two-out single from Maddy White to make it 1-1. Jackson broke the tie with a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth. Jackie Cherry earned the win, allowing five hits while strikeout out four. Kelsey White was solid in the circle for Taunton, striking out six.

Baseball

Franklin, 1 @ Taunton, 0 – Final (11 inn.) – With the bases loaded in the top of the 11th, Franklin senior Alex Haba stole home for the winning run for the Panthers. Haba singled up the middle to reach base and was on third with two outs before sprinting home. It was a pitcher’s duel between starters Brennan Rivera (8IP, 4H, 4K 0BB) and Taunton’s Jack Moynihan (8IP, 3H, 10K, 1BB). Will Pacheco earned the win in relief for Franklin, tossing two innings with three hits, two walks, and one strikeout. Liam Dailey inherited the tying run in the bottom of the 11th but earned three straight outs for the save. Danny MacDougall and Andrew Gomes had two hits apiece for Taunton.

Boys Tennis

Taunton, 0 @ Franklin, 5 – Final – Franklin won all five matches in straight sets to knock off visiting Taunton. Liam Marr won 6-3, 6-2 at first singles, Rohan Herur secured a 6-1, 6-2 win at second singles, and Shoyaib Shaik won 6-3, 6-0 at third singles. The team of Saketh Saripalli and Vayshnav Malhotra won 6-1, 6-1 at first doubles while Shoumik Sompally and Saket Gandham paired up for a 6-0, 6-0 win at second doubles.

Girls Tennis

Franklin, 0 @ Taunton, 5 – Final – The Tigers defended home court with a sweep over visiting Franklin. Jillian Pagliuca won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, McKenzie Lucie earned a 6-1, 6-0 decision at second singles, and Jocelyn Pagliuca won by default at third singles. The team of Sam Martin and Brianna Fevrier didn’t drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at first doubles while Ogechi Ariguzo and Cayeesha Charles earned a 7-5, 6-0 win at second doubles.

Friday, April 12th

Baseball

Taunton, 6 vs. New Bedford, 5 – Final – Taunton turned patience at the plate into 10 walks and capitalized on three Whaler errors, eventually walking off with a win. With the game tied in the bottom of the seventh, Sean Quinlan reached on an error. Pinch runner Nolan Melo advanced with a single and then came home to score the winning run on a wild pitch. Lucas Martins had two hits, a walk, and an RBI for the Tigers. Josh Lajoie scattered four hits, four walks, and four runs over five innings of work while striking out five. Sophomore Danny MacDougall got the win in relief, allowing just one run on two hits in two innings with three strikeouts.

Softball

Taunton, 15 @ Foxboro, 0 – Final (5 inn.) – Taunton clicked on all cylinders, belting out 17 hits while senior Alexa White got 13 of the 15 outs via strikeout. White allowed just one hit, walked two and didn’t allow a run to earn the shutout victory. Sophomore Kelsey White shined at the plate, hitting two home runs and knocking in four runs. Payton Ceglarski (double, home run, four RBI), Rylie Murphy (two doubles, RBI), Abbie McDonough (two RBI), Alexa White (double, RBI), Hanna Aldrich (two runs), and Jaime Brown each had two hits for Taunton.

Taunton, 13 @ Plymouth North, 11 – Final

Boys Volleyball

Taunton, 3 vs. Quincy, 2 – Final – A shorthanded Taunton team survived a five-set thriller against visiting Quincy. For the second straight match, the Tigers took a 2-0 lead but had to go to a fifth set. After falling to KP on Thursday, Taunton prevailed in five against the Presidents. Damir Santiago stepped up into the setter position and played well for the Tigers. Gage Kingman, Tyler Stewart, and Liam Bunker all played well at the net for Taunton.

Baseball

Taunton, 8 vs. Durfee, 4 – Final – Durfee cut Taunton’s lead to just one with a run in the top of the fourth inning but the Tigers scored once in the bottom half and added three runs in the fifth inning to conquer the Hilltoppers. Jack Moynihan earned the win on the mound, scattering six hits over six innings of work, striking out five with three earned runs allowed. Logan Lawrence had a hit and two RBI and Colby Lariviere added two hits and two RBI for the Tigers.

Softball

Taunton, 16 vs. Moses Brown, 5 – Final – After Moses Brown cut Taunton’s lead in half with five runs in the fifth, the Tigers responded with six runs in the sixth inning to pull away. Jaime Brown had a big day at the plate with four hits, including a pair of triples and five RBI. Hanna Aldrich (two RBI), McKenzie McAloon (double, RBI), and Ava Venturelli (double, triple, two RBI), each had two hits. Winning pitcher Kelsey White pitched the first five innings, allowing five unearned runs on four hits with three strikeouts and one walk. Alexa White came in for the final two innings, striking out five while allowing two hits.

Sharon, 0 @ Taunton, 18 – Final (5 inn.) – Taunton scored eight runs in the first inning and never looked back in a while over visiting Sharon. Sophomore Hanna Aldrich paced the offense with a pair of home runs and five RBI, sophomore McKenzie McAloon added a pair of hits and two runs scored, sophomore Tayah DaCosta had two hits, scored three runs, and two RBI, junior Abbie McDonough had a double and two RBI, and sophomore Skylar Rheaume added a hit and an RBI. Alexa White earned her second win of the year, allowing just one hit in three innings of work while striking out six. Freshman Olyvia Mendonca did not allow a hit in two scoreless innings of relief.

Friday, April 19th

Softball

Taunton, 2 vs. Pittsfield, 1 – Final – Taunton took the lead with two runs in the first inning and that was enough for sophomore Kelsey White, who had a stellar pitching performance in the circle. Taunton loaded the bases on two infield errors and a hit batter, and Payton Ceglarski (2-for-3, two RBI) came through with a clutch line drive base hit to score Hanna Aldrich and Jaime Brown. Taunton had at least one base hit in every inning, but could not capitalize again on their scoring opportunities. White allowed one run on four hits and one walk while striking out two in a complete game effort. Taunton coach Dave Lewry noted the strong defensive play of Brown, Aldrich, White, and McKenzie McAloon.

Taunton, 2 @ King Philip, 3 – Final – King Philip rallied from an 0-2 deficit to stun the visiting Tigers with a 3-2 (23-25, 20-25, 25-19, 25-17, 15-12) win. 

Boys Track

Oliver Ames, 78 @ Taunton, 58 – Final – Zane Reservitz and Aaron MacDonald each had a pair of first place finishes to pace Oliver Ames to a win over Taunton. Reservitz took first in the 800M (2:05.0) and the 1 Mile (4:58.0) while MacDonald crossed first in the 400M (52.0) and won the long jump (20’3′). Other first place finishes for the road Tigers included Sean Flaherty (110M hurdles, 17.8), Kyle Sarney (2 mile, 10:34.8), Ryan Hilliard (triple jump, 41’0″), Jared Mileika (javelin, 139’0″), and Anthony DeCosta (discus, 108’1″).

Girls Track

Oliver Ames, 57 @ Taunton, 79 – Final

Boys Tennis

​Taunton, 4 @ Durfee, 1 – Final – Taunton picked up a non-league win on the road over Durfee. Brett Beaulieu won 6-1, 6-0 at first singles while Charlie Fiske earned a comeback win at second singles, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4. The team of Ryan Hebert and Alex Pugh didn’t lose a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at first doubles while Barrett Hodgson and Tyler Goddard prevailed 6-1, 7-6 at second doubles.

Baseball

King Philip, 1 @ Taunton, 0 – Final (10 inn.) – Both King Philip starter David Morganelli and Taunton starter Logan Lawrence pitched into extra innings in a terrific pitchers’ duel on Wednesday afternoon. The Warriors were able to string together three hits in the 10th, the last being an RBI single from Morganelli to score Matt Munnafo for the winning run. Morganelli tossed 8.1 scoreless innings, striking out five while allowing five hits and two walks. Chris Sawyer earned the win in relief with 1.2 scoreless innings. Taunton junior Logan Lawrence pitched eight scoreless innings for the Tigers, scattering three hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Girls Lacrosse

King Philip, 19 @ Taunton, 7 – Final – Nine different players scored for the Warriors in a big road win. Caroline Klim led the way with five goals and Dana Truini added four for KP. Ali Wilson had two goals and Jessica Sullivan scored twice and assisted on a third, while Victoria Tormey and Jess Hitchen each scored once. Three players scored their first varsity goals for the Warriors. Haley Izydorczak had her first two goals and an assist, Lily Brown scored her first goal and had an assist, and Julia Marsden opener her varsity account with a goal as well.

Boys Tennis

Taunton, 0 @ King Philip, 5 – Final – King Philip won all five matches in straight sets to secure a sweep of visiting Taunton. Marco DiStefano won 6-1, 6-0 at first singles, Nick Putney earned a 6-3, 6-1 win at second singles, and Jack Cannon didn’t drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 decision at third singles. The team of Nate Ihley and Zak Ryan secured a 6-0, 6-0 win at first doubles and the team of Jake Mager and Tyler Dowd prevailed 7-5, 6-3 at second doubles.

Girls Tennis

King Philip, 4 @ Taunton, 1 – Final – King Philip won two matches in both singles and doubles action to secure a victory on the road at Taunton. Junior Erin Regnier won 6-1, 6-2 at first singles while sophomore Katarina Schneider picked up a 6-1, 6-1 decision at second singles for KP. The team of Grace Ely and Katie Welch, both juniors, won 6-2, 6-2 at first doubles while sophomores Laura Davenport and Meghan Powers prevailed 7-5, 6-2 at second doubles. Taunton sophomore Jocelyn Pagliuca battled back to win 3-6, 6-4, 10-4 at third singles.
