SaturdayBaseballNorth Attleboro, 4 @ Taunton, 6 – Final – Click here for a photo gallery of this game. – In a back and forth contest, Taunton scored three runs in the top bottom of the fifth and added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to get the win. North jumped out to a 2-0 lead, scoring in the first inning (Evan Melo walk, stolen base, to third on Danny MacDougall fly ball, scored on Josh Lajoie’s RBI groundout) and in the third inning (Lucas Martins walk, to second on Gavin Leahy grounder, and scored on an infield error).............
Click on link below to view full article write up. SoftballTaunton, 21 @ Oliver Ames, 1 – Final (5 inn.) – Taunton scored 21 runs on 17 hits in its season opener. Hanna Aldrich powered the offense with a pair of homers, three RBI, and four runs scored. Mckenzie McAloon (three runs), Payton Ceglarski, Riley Murphy (three RBI), and Skylar Rheaume (three RBI) all had two hits for Taunton. Kelsey White earned the win with four strikeouts over three innings with Alexa White and freshman Olyvia Mendonca each taking one inning in the circle. Katie Abreu drove in Emma Varella with a fifth inning double for OA’s lone run. Katie Mills and Colleen Larson each had hits for the Tigers.
Girls LacrosseTaunton, 10 @ Oliver Ames, 17 – Final – Oliver Ames senior Olivia Piazza dominated at draws and led the team in scoring to give the Tigers a visit over Taunton. Piazza had 16 draw controls and scored eight goals while Ella Hogan had a nice game with four goals and one assist for OA. Olivia Carroll, Emma Pereira, and Emma Sharkansky also scored for OA.
Boys VolleyballTaunton, 3 vs. Barnstable, 0 – Final – Taunton broke into the win column with a sweep over visiting Barnstable (25-18, 25-23, 25-18). Sophomore Tyler Stewart led the offense with eight kills and three blocks, Gage Kingman added five kills and two aces, and Alex Tavares and Liam Bunker each finished with three kills and three blocks.
